Responsibilities

This contractor role will cover two maternity leaves – both in New Balance’s US Marketing Team. The role for the first 3 months is to drive the planning and execution of channel marketing activations at Footlocker Inc. (banners include Footlocker, Eastbay, Foot Action, Champs, Lady & Kids Footlocker) – one of the brand’s largest retail customers, as well as supporting activations at Amazon & Zappos; the 2nd 3 months is to lead our US Factory Store marketing – New Balance’s largest owned retail business. This combined role would give a candidate a great breadth of experience at New Balance across a number of important and impactful businesses.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 1st 3 months: 
    • Brilliant channel marketing plans and executions across Foot Inc. and Amazon/Zappos, incorporating in-store POP and activations alongside 360 digital plans.
    • Aid in Q119 sell-in plans across these distribution channels.
  • 2nd 3 months:
    • Work with the NB Retail leadership team to deliver weekly activation plans to drive our NB Factory Store business, across POP, email, social, among others.

KEY CUSTOMERS

  • Key internal customers for this role are the sales channel leads and merchandizing leads, who combined make up the go-to-market trifecta of marketing, merchandizing and sales. For the first 3 months this would be the wholesale sales teams; for the second 3 months it would be the retail leadership team.
  • Strong collaboration is required across the broader NA marketing team to ensure that channel marketing plans are both reinforcing the overall NA marketing strategy as well as being reinforced by the NA integrated team – both key in delivering breakthrough business results in NA wholesale.
  • Strong collaboration is also required with global marketing to ensure plans are executed in line with global strategy and that the global teams are servicing the NA needs.
  • Key external customers are first and foremost the wholesale accounts. This person plays a key leadership role with the accounts in driving long-term joint business plans as well as ensuring best in class channel marketing plan development, sell in and successfully execution to drive short & long term business results.
  • In addition, this role interacts with numerous external vendors, from creative agencies to media planning agencies.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of wholesale channel marketing and retail experience, across a variety of customers and channels, ideally within the athletic footwear & apparel industry.
  • Proven track record launching new products across wholesale, retail & .com, utilizing innovative marketing techniques to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Holistic marketing plan development, including media planning & digital marketing.
  • Results driven and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Budget ownership & management, plus post campaign analysis.
  • Experience leading relationships with wholesale accounts and agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Some travel required (10-15%).
